Global Perspective
Acquiring a broad outlook — including an understanding of global industry and economics, international politics, and multicultural perspectives — is part of the plan at the SOM. Our collaborative academic community represents diverse cultures and professional experience from around the world. Current research also includes international projects. Take for example, Professor Sylvia Maxfield's groundbreaking work on women business leaders in Latin America. Or consider Professor Jill Kickul's cross cultural study of women entrepreneurs in St. Petersburg, as well as additional research in collaboration with the Russian Women's Microfinance Network based in Moscow.
Approximately 25% of SOM students are of African, Latin, Asian or Native American descent, while 29% are from countries other than the United States. Their diverse experience and perspective provides a greater understanding of global issues that is essential for successful leadership.

"It has been 9 months since my arrival at Boston and every minute spent at Simmons has been enjoyable. Apart from the three powerful letters MBA, Simmons has given me "Friends." And by friends I mean not only my classmates but also alums and a few faculty members. And these friends have been my support in America and they have given me a second home."

"I knew I wanted to continue my higher education abroad because my professional goal is to work for a multinational corporation; I needed an international perspective and global mind-set of the business world. Simmons offers that."
