CGO Director Patricia Deyton Participates in Series of Meetings for Japanese Women Leadership Initiative (JWLI)

Patricia Deyton, CGO Director, also traveled to Japan in early May where she joined Simmons College Trustee, Atsuko Fish, for a series of meetings for the Japanese Women Leadership Initiative (JWLI).  JWLI, founded by Fish and funded by the Fish Foundation, brings women who are interested in and willing to pursue leadership in the nonprofit sector in Japan to the SOM for an immersion program in nonprofit leadership. The program provides on-site experience at nonprofits, participation in the SOM's Strategic Leadership for Women Executive Education Program, and guidance and direction by Deyton. While in Tokyo, Fish and Deyton met with the Japanese partner, the Intercultural Institute of Japan and the 2007 fellows. They also hosted a small coffee for Simmons alumnae living in Tokyo and met with a member of the Japanese Parliament. Three women from Japan participated in the first year of the program in 2007; four women will take part in the 2008 program.
